Workplace Safety Rules


Your safety is the constant concern of this company.  Every precaution has been taken to provide a safe workplace.  [Name or title of the person in charge of safety] makes regular inspections and holds regular safety meetings.  [He or she] also meets with management to plan and implement further improvements in our safety program.  Common sense and personal interest in safety are still the greatest guarantees of your safety at work, on the road, and at home.  We take your safety seriously and any willful or habitual violation of safety rules will be considered cause for dismissal.  DU PREEZ ARTISANS WORLD is sincerely concerned for the health and well being of each member of the team.
The cooperation of every employee is necessary to make this company a safe place in which to work.  Help yourself and others by reporting unsafe conditions or hazards immediately to your supervisor or to a member of the safety committee.  Give earnest consideration to the rules of safety presented to you by poster signs, discussions with your supervisor, posted department rules, and regulations published in the safety booklet.  Begin right by always thinking of safety as you perform your job, or as you learn a new one.
Accident reporting.  Any injury at work—no matter how small—must be reported immediately to your supervisor and receive first aid attention.  Serious conditions often arise from small injuries if they are not cared for at once.

Sexual Harassment Policy

DU PREEZ ARTISANS WORLD believes that you should be afforded the opportunity to work in an environment free of sexual harassment.  Sexual harassment is a form of misconduct that undermines the employment relationship.  No employee, either male or female, should be subjected verbally or physically to unsolicited and unwelcomed sexual overtures or conduct.

Sexual harassment refers to behavior that is not welcome, that is personally offensive, that debilitates morale and, therefore, interferes with work effectiveness.

Behavior that amounts to sexual harassment may result in disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal.

Definition

DU PREEZ  ARTISANS WORLD has adopted, and its policy is based on, the definition of sexual harassment set forth by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The EEOC defines sexual harassment as unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature when:

  • submission to such conduct is made either explicitly or implicitly a term or condition of employment
  • submission to or rejection of such conduct by you is used as the basis for employment decisions affecting you
  • such conduct has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with your work performance or creating an intimidating, hostile or offensive working environment.

SMOKING POLICY


DU PREEZ ARTISANS WORLD recognize the hazards caused by exposure to environmental smoke is shall be the policy of this company to provide a smoke –free environment to all employees and visitors.
This policy covers the smoking of any tobacco product and the use of oral tobacco products or ”split” tobacco and it applies to both employees an non-employee visitors  of DU PREEZ ARTISANS WORLD.
DEFINITION

  1. No smoking of tabacco will be allowed within the facilities at any time

The decision to provide or not provide designated smoking areas outside the facility will be  at the discretion of management.
If a designated area is provided , all materials used for smoking  in this area , including butts and matches, will be extinquised and disposed of in appropriate containers. Supervisors will ensure periodic cleanup of the designated area. If the smoking area is not properly maintained ( cigarette butts are found on the ground) it can be elimanatedat the discretion of management.

Violence in the Workplace Prevention Policy

Zero tolerance

This company has a policy of zero tolerance for violence.  If you engage in any violence in the workplace, or threaten violence in the workplace, your employment will be terminated immediately for cause.  No talk of violence or joking about violence will be tolerated.
“Violence" includes physically harming another, shoving, pushing, harassing, intimidating, coercing, brandishing weapons, and threatening or talking of engaging in those activities.  It is the intent of this policy to ensure that everyone associated with this business, including employees and customers, never feels threatened by any employee’s actions or conduct.

Workplace security measures

In an effort to fulfill this commitment to a safe work environment for employees, customers, and visitors, a few simple rules have been created.  These are:

  • Access to the company’s property is limited to those with a legitimate business interest.
  • All employees and employee vehicles entering the property must display company identification.
  • All visitors and visitor vehicles must register and display identification while on the property.

HIV/AIDS Policy Statement

DU PREEZ ARTISANS WORLD  recognises that HIV/AIDS endangers our success by threatening the wellbeing of our employees, and that of our clients and service providers. In an effort to deal with the issue proactively, we are committed to assisting our employees infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS. The details of this undertaking can be found in DU PREEZ ARTISANS WORLD's  HIV/AIDS Workplace Policy document.

Our stance on HIV/AIDS is as follows:

  • DU PREEZ  ARTISANS WORLD  will not carry out direct or indirect pre-employment screening for HIV/AIDS as a pre-requisite for employment.
  • DU PREEZ ARTISANS WORLD  will endeavour to educate all employees about HIV/AIDS prevention, transmission and treatment.
  • HIV infection, in itself, does not constitute lack of fitness to work, so an employee can not and will not be dismissed simply because he/she is HIV-positive.
  • All medical records will be kept confidential. It is up to the employee to release information concerning his/her HIV status if he/she chooses to.
  • If an employee is unable to work because of an AIDS-related illness, reasonable alternative working arrangements will be made where possible.
  • DU PREEZ ARTISANS WORLD  will do best to protect any member of staff against stigmatisation and discrimination in the workplace. Any employees found doing this, will face disciplinary action. your
